SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION
Rationale of the course and programme highlights
With the advent of minimally invasive approaches in thoracic surgery – both videoassisted and robotic – complex combined approaches to pleural cavities and mediastinum are more and more rarely performed, thus causing a lack in the training of thoracic surgery trainees and a concrete risk of deskilling in more experienced surgeons.
The aim of this cadaveric course is to bridge the gap between theory and actual clinical practice, offering a practical knowledge of complex accesses to pleural cavities and mediastinum.
At end of this course, learners can expect to acquire the following skills:
• Basic anatomy principles
• Develop and improves knowledge and skills in dissection
• Bridge basic anatomical understanding with clinical applications in the field of extended thoracic surgery
• Build a strong foundation for safe surgical practice
Benefits of attending
• Unique opportunity to dissect on complex anatomical districts in a fresh cadaver
• Gain hands-on experience with various types of techniques involved in extended thoracic surgery
• Personal involvement in the dissection of the specimen, actively taking part in the teams that will alternate for the different procedures subject matter of the course
Who should attend
Thoracic surgery residents and thoracic surgeons.
